Reads like an alternate history textbook

The chapter 'Two Hours to Zero' is arguably the best part of this book. Reading about the exact timeline of October 23, 2077—from the early morning submarine detections to the obliteration of Boston by 9:47 AM EST—reads like a thriller novel. It puts the tragedy of the games into a really stark historical context. It's not just a gaming guide, it reads like an alternate history textbook.

Mind-blowing corporate conspiracy

Bought this after bingeing the Prime TV series. I didn't play much of the early games, so the chapters explaining the Vault 31, 32, and 33 connections to Bud Askins and the corporate conspiracy were mind-blowing. The book sometimes jumps around between Fallout 1 and 76 really fast, making it slightly confusing, but finding out that Nuka-Cola Quantum launched on the EXACT day the bombs fell on October 23, 2077, is just perfectly tragic. Great read.

Dark humor captured perfectly

Man, Vault-Tec was messed up. I thought I knew the worst of it, but reading through the 'Beneath the Steel Sky' section gave me chills. Fact 76 about Vault 77—the one guy locked in with a crate of puppets—is hilarious and terrifying. Fernandes captures the dark humor of the games perfectly. It's exactly the kind of trivia you want to drop on your friends while playing 76.

Impressive research and detail

A really solid encyclopedia for the Wasteland. I loved the breakdown of the arsenal, specifically how the Fat Man was directly inspired by the real-world Davy Crockett from the 1950s. The author clearly loves the franchise. I'm giving it 4 stars because there are a few minor formatting quirks, but the amount of research here is impressive. Definitely worth the caps.

The Fact-opedia covers the entire timeline! It includes deep lore from Fallout 1, 2, 3, New Vegas, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and seamlessly integrates the canon established by the blockbuster TV series.
Absolutely not. This book digs into obscure developer notes, cut content (like the intelligent S'Lanter raccoons), and behind-the-scenes concepts, organizing 3,000 facts into a gripping narrative rather than a sterile list.
Yes. We dive deep into the Resource Wars, the Sino-American conflict, the annexation of Canada, and the exact geopolitical tension that led to the bombs dropping on October 23, 2077.
In excruciating detail. You'll learn about the pre-war military genetics programs, the Jackson's Chameleon mutations, and the exact timeline of the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV) at Mariposa.
We catalog the most infamous, terrifying, and bizarre Vaults. From the cloning madness of Vault 108 (Gary!) to the sacrificial mandates of Vault 11, the true purpose of the Safehouse Project is laid bare.
Yes. The book breaks down the ideologies, military strength, and hidden secrets of the Brotherhood of Steel, the Enclave, the New California Republic (NCR), Caesar's Legion, and the Institute.
We dedicate an entire section to Wasteland Ways, explaining the Hub's water-backed cap economy, NCR dollars, Legion Denarii, and the cultural shifts of the post-nuclear world.
Perfectly suitable. It's written to serve as an onboarding encyclopedia for newcomers, while containing enough obscure Easter Eggs to surprise veterans with thousands of hours of gameplay.
